Meet your Instructor
My name is Cami Goldowitz, and I am so happy you’re here.
I have over 20 years of dedicated and consistent yoga training and practice. Certified as a yoga teacher (RYT 200 hour) and a meditation teacher (MMTC with Erica Denman), I have studied the modalities of Anusara Yoga, Power Vinyasa Yoga, mindful meditation, pranayama, and trained with renowned teachers including Jason Crandall, Coeli Marsh, Baron Baptiste, Bryan Kest, as well as completed thousands of hours of classes and workshops with expert teachers throughout the northeast and right here in Rochester, NY.
Prior to yoga, I was a student of modern dance, with studies in Martha Graham technique, Cunningham, José Limon, and Garth Fagan Dance. It is due to decades of studying movement through dance that has most influenced my yoga teaching: a focus on alignment and form, skill in dynamic and balanced sequencing, student focused instruction, and respect for the craft and traditions of the physical yoga practice.
For me, studying a physical legacy, moving my body through space, the satisfaction of deep research, and having a creative and artistic outlet has shaped who I am and remains essential for my holistic well-being.
Yoga was a perfect fit for me after my time dancing professionally, a practice that evolved with me as I raised my family, further established my career, and eventually, began to feel the effects of ageing. Yoga is my calling as a teacher and the truest guide post to my spiritual development.
My classes are never scripted, nor do I believe in a one-size fits all approach to yoga–-students of all abilities, levels of experience, and walks of life are WELCOME! In addition, we have tons of fun and enjoy awesome music!
I am the mother of two grown children that I’m so proud of and grandma to an adorable baby boy. Now retired from a decades long career as a librarian, I enjoy gardening, knitting, great novels, and going on long walks with my best friend/husband and our diva dog, Phoebe.
